    Z3 has a shotter rack then 95 M3?

Looks like my steering rack is leaking. Fuck ZA...they gave me a pretty beat up 95 M3 rack to begin with so this is no suprise. Rather then buying another 95 M3 rack, can't I use a rack from a Z3 for an even shorter lock/lock ratio? E36 M3 95 is 3.0 What Z3 is less?

Any non-M Z3 will be the same as the 95 M3 rack. I have read different things about the racks but here is what seems certain: 2.8 turns lock-lock and linear steering. The 95 M3 has a variable ratio rack, slower at the center.

Some people have said that the Z3 rack isn't truely quicker ratio because of the 2.8 turns just that it doesn't allow for the same turning radius.

the z3 rack is 2.7 turns lock to lock, which i dont think would be enough for a noticeable difference compared to a 95 m3 rack. if you already have a modified coupler just buy a rebuilt or a used late model z3 rack if your concerned about reliability.

Yeah there has been debate about if you just lose some turning radius tightness since its linear.

The primary reason to move from the 3.0 M3 to the MCoupe rack would be the on-center feel.
        Im now E30less.

Z3 rack is between 2.8 and 2.9 turns lock to lock. I had an E30, E36 325i and a Z3 rack on my bench and the total travel of the three racks was nearly identical, so there is no difference in turning radius. I did not have a '95 M3 rack to check out, but would imagine the travel would once again be the same.
