    Check Panel

I have a 91' 318 that came without the check panel.
However, I want to add one.
I've seen a few member's stores have them, and before I get one-how hard are they to wire? anyone have access to instructions? Mine has a plastic cap currently in lieu of the panel.

    all help appreciated. :)

Wiring is effectively impossible. When I wanted to do the same, a couple of good sources said the easy way to do it is to replace the entire harness of the car, which is a nightmare.

wait, i just realzied that my car has a check panel ( i think) but its all dark plastic) no white lettering. my wiring was goofy so it wasn't as bright.
upon start up, a seatbelt light shows up in the middle.
                      is this a check panel?

The check panels have a button on them. At least the ones I've seen. Never seen one without white lettering either.

Look through the ETM for the 325 cars with the check panels, it's a f-ing nightmare. Why would anybody want to put that pos system in the car? :)

Keep it the way it is, it's not worth the effort to retrofit one in imho.

Yeah, but its shortened to fit inside the bezel of a check panel. I think I have some more pics floating around of the backside if you want them.

M42 e30s came with a check panel 'blank' of sorts that has an SRS, an airbag, an overheat, and a seatbelt light. Most of the time, the SRS light blinks for the first 5 or so minutes that the car is on and then just stays on, because there is either a fault in the airbag or it has been unplugged at some point. I don't think the seatbelt light really did anything in my car, but I can't remember. The blank panel is kinda useless, but IMHO it looks a lot cleaner than the whole check panel thing.
