Then it def is shorted somewhere past the brake switch. Let me see if I can dig up the prints for your car. Do you have aim?

well now the headlights wont work and thefuses are fine with that. when i turnoff the car the fuel filter makes a noise as if the fuel pump is on. i unplugged the fuel pump relay and its still on

if your brake lights are still on, check the relay for them in the trunk (drivers side above and behind the antenna) if it is stuck, the lights will stay on. This also sends the signal to the check controller, so who knows, it could be related.

i found some wire from the fuse box and into the driver side all burnt up so i wired up a new wire and got the lights to cut off. sometime when i cut the car off something near my fuel filter makes a noise like if its on. anyone know what that may be it killed my battery so im forced to disconnect the battery when i leave my car.

Do you have a 5-speed, and did you recently do a clutch job, or something where you removed the trans?

i was having the same problem
car shut down on the way home from panda express

...turned out my alternator was shorting out on the fuel rail

the stupid wire that goes from the alt to the starte goes way up to the fuel rail then back down to the starter. really stupid.. but years of rubbing and it finaly quit... i had to pull the whole harness apart to find the location...now it looks like shit but runs great.
