Shifter install question...

I broke my stock shift lever where the rod connects to the ball, but i just got a new one(Z4 3.0) and a new weighted brushed alumkinum shift knob. How do i take out the plastic cone that holds the ball in place do i turn the cone a certain way to let it pop out? Also the stock lever has a metal ball on it and my new one has a plastic one, do i still have to grease the new ball up?

there are 2 clips that you can see in the slots on the alluminum holder. I break them out with a screw driver and a hamer, cause I replace that part to. I put grease on the plastic ball, dont really think its necessary, but it wont hurt anything either.
