Kinda weird steering issue when cold

Since it started getting colder this winter, i've had some weird qwuirks with the car. (its first winter)

When i start the car up in the morning, back it out, and then put it in first to leave, right when i start to turn the wheel after backing it out, I hear sort of a groaning... noise coming from hunder the hood, maybe from the front left wheel / engine area, but i'm not quite sure.

Its louder the higher the rev's, but cuts off after about 2.5k rpm for the most part, it is especially noticeable if i am still moving backwards slightly (not at any significant speed, less than a mile an hour) and put the car in first to move forward again.

I'm thinking it might be a belt or something, but i'm not entirely sure, anyone know whats up?

edit: not sure if these will help but i thought i'll throw em in anyway
no problems with cool or hot air
    clutch is grabbing great
car runs at 1/4 bar for temperature (so nice and cool, where its always sat except on occasion in extreme heat)

things i know don't work/work off and on:
windshield wiper fluid nozzles don't work.

Doh! I completely forgot about that.

I have a very slowly leaking rack (one of the boots is torn in half, no dirt and grime has managed to get inside yet though, but there's a very slow slow leak (one or two drops an hour) going on there. Just need to get the money together to replace that..

        thanks guys.
