    k5 unloader relay...?

    anyone know what it does and why my 84 318i m10 does not have one?

    does it need it?

    Early cars usually don't have and don't need.
    Current:

    BMW 320i 2d 2.0 m20 -88
    BMW 325i Cabriolet 2.5 m50 -88
    BMW 316i touring 1.6 m40 -90
    BMW 320i 4d 2,2 m54 -01

        all the unloader relays are there for is to cut power to non essential circuits during cranking. Car will run fine without it but may take longer to crank and will be less likely to fire up with a low battery. If your car came with it keep it. I hear that some e30 never had them but I cant confirm it. All the ones I have worked on had them.

            just looked at an 1985 318i

            and it has a k5 unloader

            it must have been the first year for it
            (or my 1984 got hacked by a po)
