    glove box ate my ipod

    .......and my digital camera.

I go to open the glove box the other day, and low and behold the damn thing won't open. I tried locking it and unlocking it several times, but it seems that the thing doesn't want to give me my stuff. Has anyone else had this problem? It is simply stuck closed. It's rather annoying :?

Your latch and/or the catch mechanisms are broken.

Get ready to buy a new glovebox, or at least the latch and catch mechanism, because you're pretty much going to have to pry and break it open.

Perhaps you could undo the two or three screws that attach it to the hinge at the back... Might allow you to shove a hand in it from behind to get everything out.

Oh, those are fun! I just about punched a hole through the dash from frustration while trying to reinstall my wife's glovebox on her 89 325i.

it's not difficult to break into the glove box with a broken latch. you're going to have to break off the latch handle then the actual latch that has the spring loaded tabs that actually keep the glove box closed. it'll take you about 5 to 10 mins. if all else fails break out the big hammer.

Ugh, don't break it. Here, do what I failed to do (my glovebox is still busted):

I have done those multiple times and never found them that hard?
