I have an 87 2.7i, I have the stock 325 fuel system with the transfer pump in the tank and the main one mounted underneath the car near the driverside door. The transfer pump is bad.
Now my question is should I replace the transfer pump or should I try to get the newer main pump thats in the tank(if it fits in its place) and just get rid of my main fuel pump under the car. I'm asking this is because the because the i fuel pumps have around 43psi fuel preasure and the e have only 36psi. In other words is that not enough preasure for the i to run correctly and start all the time(my problems now since transfer pump is bad).
On the other hand, I was talking to my dads friend that works at a shop today and he suggested to get a different fuel pump(any kind that will make the preasure around 40 to 45) that mounts outside the tank in place of the main fuel pump now.
Any suggestions????
