    A/C Faulty

    A/C worked great for the four years I've had this car. However, now when I hit the switch for that cool, refreshing air, nothing happens! The switch goes blue, but the compressor does not engage.

    Is this a clutch issue or a piece of bad wiring?

    It could be that the system is low on refrigerant and the low pressure cut out is disabling the compressor.
    The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

      Mine does this too. The blue light comes on and the electric fan kicks on but the compressor does not engage.

      Is there a way to tell if the system is low on refrigerant without taking it to a tech?

        I suppose you could check the low pressure switch to see if it is disabling the compressor, in any case the car really needs to need to visit a shop for re-charge or repair of the A/C system.

          I can invest in a cheap can of refridgerant real quick to see if re-charging it helps.

          Otherwise, there might be a leak!

            Unless the car has been converted to R134a, you won't be able to buy a can of freon much less get it cheaply. And you can't mix R134a and R12.
