    Available LSD for our car???

    Hi Gruppe,
Trying to get information about what LSDs are easily available for our cars?
I am doing a s50 swap into my car and wanted to see what LSD options i have.
    Thanks

there's a variety of options for you, any of the big case diffs (from e30 325s and M3s) will work, and I'm not positive but I think E36 diffs will work as well.

The hot ticket would be a 4.10 LSD out of an E30 M3

The really hot ticket would be a Quaiffe.

Shoot, do you think retail on a new M3 one would be cheaper, or that the quaiffe wouldn't be the hot ticket? I am not strictly advocating it, just offering an opinion on what I think would be hot, especially since we're talking serious power with an S50!

no no, I definately agree that a quaife would kick ass. A local Porsche racer buddy of mine put on in his 944 Turbo, and tells me time and again that it is his favorite mod (he puts over 300hp to the ground). For a balls out swap, that would be the best option. For a milder setup, the OEM diffs would work too. depends on the bank account, or credit limit i guess

            I'm just mad because I can't afford one :P

I used to think in terms of credit limit but thankfully those days are behind me, what a tough treadmill!

Seems with that much power you could get away with something alot less revy. IE something 3.25 area something where you could spread the torque across the board unlike our cars that is why a 4.10 is good.

I have been negioating with a buddy of mine who has a 4.45 now how that for acceleration numbers for an E30. Only thing is once you hit 115 ish you'd be done at redline.

What Stu's dad recomend for rear gears?

Good point, another one is that the e36 transmission runs shorter gears than the 260, so you should think in terms of a 3.46 or 3.25. Blunt tried a 2.93, it was just too tall, he settled on a 3.25 I believe, for the S52.

I'm actually thinking of a couple of LSDs for different applications....
i know the 4.10 will not work.

I'm thinking of the 3.73 for short tracks, and maybe the 3.46 for medium and 3.25 for longer tracks. I didnt know 3.46 was available to the e30...

Quaiffe would be great....but not in my budget yet...
