    problems after changing oil/air filter

well i recently changed my oil, switched over to synthetic (mobil 1 10w30) and i at the same time i put in a K&N air filter. my gas mileage is dropping (according to the obc) and right now its looking like im not going to get 300 miles out of my tank. also sometimes i can smell a sort of gas smell after getting out of my car or when im parked at a red light with the window down. im thinking i may have done something with the afm when installing the air filter. any ideas?

    thanks

10W30 is way too thin...i thought that something like 15W50 was reccomended. It's the thickest Mobil 1 that they make. I know this is at least true for M20's. I'm not sure if you have a M42 or if it's different.

10w30 is fine, although living in FL, you might want to use 10w40. I run 5w30 in mine during the winter and it's fine. The OBC is a piece of shit, take it's 'measurements' with a grain of salt. Furthermore, why the fuck are you driving the car if you can smell gas!? Do you have any idea how low the flashpoint of gasoline is? Stop driving it and find out where it's leaking from.
