    Lock Cylinder question

I just had the driver's side lock cylinder replaced on my 91 318is, and now when I lock the car, if I turn the key horizontal to the deadbolt position, the car makes a noise like the deadbolt engages, but then I have to turn the key back to the vertical position to remove it. I think I should be able to pull out the key in the horiziontal position. Before I take it back to the stealership, I wanted to find out how everyone elses lock system works, thanks in advance.

That's double locking, prevents the car from being unlocked from the interior (makes it hell for theives). But the key should still be able to come out of the cylinder at horizontal, that's standard locking.

Ya double locking is something I wish I still had.
E30 door lock cylinders are very common to shit out and act up funny though. Maybe yours is on its way out.

      Sold it.

Mine pulls out just fine sideways. If you put it back up to horizontal it disenages the doubel locking.

All the double locking is anyway is just the cylinder arm moving to hold the central locking unit arm down (instead of just hitting the microswitch), so that when you try to unlock it from somewhere else it just ignores the signal.
