    Hard Acceleration Trouble

I recently bought an '89 325i with a few problems to say the least. After replacing the intake boot, checking for vacuum leaks, and replacing the spark plugs the engine still has problems.

If I baby the car it runs fine. If I try to accelerate hard though, the engine cuts out and I lose power. Then, when I let off the accelerator the power comes back to the engine and it runs fine again. Basically, the engine doesn't like hard acceleration.

In addition, the green check engine light is on at all times but goes off when I lose power after accelerating.

    Any thoughts?

The GREEN check-engine light? Am I missing something?

Off the top of my head, check fuel pump and filter. Someone else had a similar problem very recently and there were lots of suggestions (CPS, etc), I'd find that thread and start checking those out.

One of the problems that the car has is that it has the wrong cluster; it has an eta cluster. the CEL on it is in a different place, so the light that ends up lighting up with an i harness is green.

Also, the car is an automatic for whatever that's worth.
