I was doing doughnuts in the snow last night in this massive parking lot that I found with a buddy of mine when all of a sudden the motor started feeling sluggish. I gave it more gas, but that didn't have any effect and it just died. I started her back up, she ran for about 10 seconds (like crap), than died again. Tried once more, sputtered, but didn't start up. I'm guessing that the previous owner must have always let the tank run dry before filling up, and now i'm stuck with replacing the pump. I found a used one at roadfly, the guy is only asking $100, it's an OEM 318 325 bosch pump. This is my problem -
Me- "I've got a 1989 325iS, my fuel pumps part number is - 16141179992. Do you have the part number for this pump?"
Seller - "The Part Marking on the Pump Body is 62/29 14998 26338. These are etched and about 1/8" high (very hard to see) on the aluminum pump body. The main difference of this pump the other E30 pumps are: This one has the bigger pump, there are two wires that connects to the motor/pump, and there is only one outlet pipe at the top. I think this one resembles what you have, I used to have an '89 325i and it's similar as this one. "87 and below I think have the smaller pump motor. Hope this helps."
The number that he gave me isn't a part number, or atleast I dont think, it doesn't match any E30 fuel pump part numbers. I REALLY don't want to spend $220 + s/h on a new pump when I can get a very clean used one for $100, anybody have any idea if this one will work?
88+ all have in-tank fuel pumps

The pump came out of an 89 325i convertable. I'm guessing that that is perfect...
