    3 E30's, All 3 smell like gasoline

I've had 3 E30's in the last couple years, and all of them smelled like gasoline inside. Is there a standard list of stuff to fix related to that? It's really a nasty part of the ownership experience up to this point. On one car, I replaced most of the fuel lines, and it didn't make any difference.

    Thanks.

Well, it can realistically only be a couple things:
    Rubber fuel lines leaking
    Injector/pressure regulator o-rings leaking

My car did the same thing long ago, but I replaced all the fuel line/clamps and all the o-rings.

Yep, those old fuel lines are probably on the verge of cracking...replace all of them, you don't want a fire.

On the one you replaced the lines, did you inspect around the injectors / fpr?

Thanks to all. No, I didn't look around the injectors & fpr. Will do so. Also found this old thread & will try those items as well:

My exhaust smells a LOT like fuel. So much so that it comes into the cabin. I'm still trying to sort it out, but the weather sucks in NY now. And since I have two other Audis, this isn't a priority at this point.

I'm running so rich that I failed emissions last week. So I know it isn't a fuel leak, but more of how the engine is running at this point. Also, my plugs are burning white which seems to indicate a lean condition at the engine. I have a replacement AFM and FPR that I am going to swap. If that doesn't help, I'll locate a DME to swap out. After that, I don't know what else to check.

Fuel lines on top of the tank under the rear seat, gasket on pump/sender housing, and gasket material on the access cover to the pump area will lessen, if not resolve your issue...

thats what i need to check..

i was thinking to myself, "ive replaced all the rubber lines under the hood, and the injectors and o-rings... what else can there be?"

              Thanks!

Are those gaskets still available? I looked briefly on REALOEM and couldn't find anything. A link or part numbers would be great.

                Thanks

You can use DIY Gasket-in-a-roll for the pump/sender gasket, any 1/8" weatherstripping for the access lid.
