    Gas Leak Between Frame

Hey guys. I've done me research and search as well and haven't found any solutions.
this is my first e30 and literally in under 24 hours of having it i'm already having problems.
i went to go start my car today and it would crank and start slightly then shut right off. i smell a huge abundance of gas so i thought i might as well check to hear if the fuel pump is on. i take out the seats and see a huge puddle near the fuel pump. oh shit. here we go. i go and buy a fuel pump automatically thinking it was messed up, replaced tried to start and same thing. realized that he leak is not from fuel pump its from lines that are between the fuel pump cover and the cover on the driver side. under the frame.
what rails are there? why could this be happening? any way to bypass that rail to get to fuel filter. assuming that its the fuel sending line since the car wont start.
i've looked up all over and i noticed everyone says check rubber hoses and those are not the problems.
took those off and are operating fine.
guessing its the hard line it connects to that craked or something
any help would be greatly appreciated. this is my only car and not being able to use it really sets me back.
thanks guys for all the support!

There are lines that run across the top of the tank from the pass. side to the driver side down to the fuel filter. The easiest way to get to them is to drop the tank down.

Actually, that is the only way to get to the hard lines that run across the top of the tank. While it is possible for one of those to fail (from corrosion), a leak on the top of the tank that only occurs when the pump is running is usually from a bad soft line. The soft lines can be replaced w/o dropping the tank.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

is there any way to drop the tank without removing the exhaust. the person before me welded the exhaust and the only way to move it out of its place is to cut it.
            ugh.

Unbolt the exhaust from the manifolds and all the hangers. Drop the exhaust as a whole unit instead of cutting it off.

yeah. figured id have to do that much. idk someone said it would be temporary but i can run some fuel rubber hose from the fuel pump to the filter. do you think that would be a good solution considering that the weather here is no joking matter.
btw paveybassist. your sig pic is awesome
