    locked keys in car----Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

Yeah, I was in a hurry, and locked my mother-$@^@!!^ keys in my car.
I am pretty good w/ the slim jim on other cars, and haven't tackled my 91 318is yet...waiting for daylight tomorrow....and no slim jim here, it's at parent's place 2 hrs. away....so I'll have to make something w/ some scrap metal and my dremel or try a coat hanger....

Any ideas? Location of lock linkage? I know on Civics and DSMs its directly below the actual visable door lock, and it takes me about 10 seconds to get one unlocked...hopefully this is similar.

I thought it was supposed to be damn near impossible to lock your keys in an E30. The only way I can think of to do it is to lock the car, throw the keys inside, and close the door.

Get a piece of paper with a string on the end of it. Slide the paper through the door seal with the string on the end thats now inside the car. Make sure you can hold the other end of the string outside the car so you can move it around. Try to get the string around the lock button thingy that sticks up outta the door. Thats how a cop unlocked my car for me once :) If you need more explanasion...let me know. He had it unlocked within 3 minutes.

I'm guessing that the paper is just a weight so you can lasso the lock knob with the string...

I cant even do that, well from my drivers door anyway. Is your sunroof up or are your windows down at all??

Slim jim wont work. Everything is horizontal or vertical and nothing to grab onto. The hinding portions are sealed in a plastic case.

Not what I wanted to hear....fuck.
                        ----------------------
The string thing sounds like a waste of time unless you're on some boyscout slip-knot, brain surgery type shit...I'd probably just get even more pissed and punch the window out.
                        ----------------------
The entire linkage can't be encased. 96-00, honda civics have the locking mechanism encased as well, and the horizontal linkage is accessable and able to be pulled if you bend the slim-jim a little and can 'hook' onto it. (I've done it a few times ;) just a major PITA.

this shit sucks. My windows aren't down AT all niether is the sunroof.

                        ---anyway through the trunk lock?

Nice diagram, and have actually done similar when i didnt have access to a slim-jim (like now), may have to keep it gangster w/ the string method and paper weight....

Flat piece of metal and a coat hanger. Trust me, you can do it with a lot of patience and the right bends in the coat hanger. Use the flat piece of metal to pry the door out enough to slip the coat hanger in, then keep making adjustments in it until you can get it to hook around the knob.

Thing is the horizontal linkage needs to be pulled left to right.

You can yank up on it until you are blue in the face, it wont help.
