cold exhaust gases, what's going on?

so the other day I noticed that my left tip has cold exhaust gases coming out of it while the right one has hot gases coming out. What's the deal? I hope my engine isn't F-ed up.

There now you can't say no one responded. ;)

how cold is the gas? Can you hold your hand in front of it for a while? The combustion rxn in the chamber yields a pretty hot exhaust. Are you sure it's not just cold outside or something?

yah I can hold it there all day if I wanted, its like a fan blowing on my hand while the right side tip has warm/hot gas coming out of it

do you think the hot side is hotter than normal?

i dont know what the insides of your muffler looks like, but maybe the hot side is clogged and heat is trapped and making it come out hotter than the other side, i dont know. How does the car drive?

its not even a problem, dont worry about it. try it after driving the car for a while, when the exhaust is completely warm. it'll be hot out both outlets. not that it matters anyway.

the car drives just fine, but the thing is that it barely gets pass the blue square. could that be part of the problem if not all of it, seems like no matter how hard or long I drive it doenst' heat up. Would a new thermostate be the way to go? I'm still worried that 3cylinders are spewing out cold ehxaust whil the others are hot. thanks for the input

If the cylinders are firing, they're not going to be letting out cold exhaust. Are you noticing a loss in power or anything? If not, I wouldn't worry about it.

If you're going to be in Corvallis on Sunday morning, you should roll over to Jordan's pad. Ted and I are going to be there wrenchin.

put your mouth on it and tell someone to start the car...take deep breaths and try to blow warm air on it

you may have blown your exhaust gas ion fluxuator.

ive got one if you want it.

err.........ok? anyway I think I'm just gonna change my thermostat, hopefully that will let my car heat up more and maybe the gases will be hot once again.

one side is probably just clogged that or one tip is a faux tip
do you check your tips regulary to make sure they're both hot. lmao

i had faux duals on for a while and only one side would get hot, now it's a true dual exhaust, manifolds back
