Mass Air conversion anyone have one???

Well instead of going with a bigger MAF I said screw it and picked up a hardly used Mass Air conversion Kit using the stock airbox for a totally OEM look. Does anyone have this in their car? I know alot of you have the bigger six sensor but was curious if anyone has the setup like BMP sells? Difficulty of installation?

i recently bought an e36 MAF on ebay. Will be fitting it to my car within a couple weeks. How are you going to get the MAF to work with the stock ECU?

Could you run a MAF without having to go standalone?

I was considering this but then I thought to myself, "what do I get out of it?"

so? what DO I get out of swapping for a bigger one?

converting to MAF get a much less restrictive intake path than the AFM as far as I know

a MAF is far more efficient and FAR less restrictive. The only things i'm worried about is temperature sensing and modifying the signal. Also gotta get that TPS in there...

              $9 !!! YOU BASTARD!

Mine costed like $40, but it's like brand new. Came from a '98 328i

I'd like a pinout, but looks like i might have to take it apart and figure it out on my own.

well, where do you expect to get your throttle position reading from? The MAF is really different, not sure if it could be used for throttle position... and besides, you should do it anyways. Its just much more accurate.

How are you going to get a E36 MAF to work? It doesn't use voltage like the AFM it uses sign waves to the ECU.

The AFM uses a LINEAR voltage signal to the ECU for air volume, you need to get a MAF that uses linear voltage also, or else it will not run right or smoothly.

This is why they have a signal conditioner for them.

I worked on trying to get a Ford MAF to work on a 318, it would run, but the A/F was all over the place and it just didn't run right!

You can't make it run properly threw the RPM range with part throttle with out a signal conditioner!!

WOT is easy, it's the part throttle that needs to be running/tuned properly!
