    1991 318is e30 idling problems

im hoping that this can be answered i just had my account activated today cause for soe reason the email didn't go through a while ago, but anywas here goes

when i start the car it idles really bad then i pull out of the drive way and drive down the street after i get to about 4 grand or so it hits like a power increase and takes off, and then it idles fine after that. then if i turn the car off and start it right away or wait a while doesn't matter i have to repeat the process (usualy) also it some times returnes while driving, but its verry rare that it does. it will just stall some times. i also believe the problem is originating in the 1 and 2 cylinders because i pull the wires on either 1 or 2 and it doesn't change the idle, but if i pull 3 or 4 it will stall. the wires and plugs are great, the plugs are a slight grey which means they're running a little lean, but they have good spark. i replaced some of the vacume hoses but i still have to replace a few but there isn't any big leaks or small ones that i know of. the voltage at the pump when idling bad is 9.8-10.6 volts and when its idling good arround 12 volts, i think htis is the cause of the starting power drained from the battery and then it builds up charge again but im not sure, i also hooked a wire straight from the batttery which is a new battery and new alt. and it read 11 volts but still idled bad. the idle controll valve works, and so does the MAF unless its callibrated wrong and opaning too much or too little. im not sure if the fuel pressu reregulator is working but if i clamp the return line for the fuel the idle picks up and is more steady. this has been a problem in both this engine and the one i had before. happened before and after i put in the dinan performance chip, and i have a new fuel pump.

also is the fuel millage guage a vacume powered guage? if so, where is the sensor in the vacume line or the vacume hose that goes to the sensor caue this guage hasn't worked since the problem started. however it does work somtimes when i get the rpm's arround 4-5 grand...

i just changed the relays too.

What is the voltage at the battery at idle?
    Sounds like a charging problem.

that really sounds like a vacuum leak....at least the first part

no its not a charging problem, i have a new alternator, and iv tested it. the vacume leake, yes i have one, and im trying to find it but i can't figure out which hose it is, iv replaced a few im waiting for the one prebent on from germany for the idle controll valve, and the splitter. but i dont know where the fuel millage guage hose is, cause that thing is vacume powered but mine doesn't work and i cant find out where it is... so if somone could get me a picture of where it is that would solve my problem i think
