    Starter/Clutch Whine noise

So I did my clutch this past week (whole week little by little at school) and am close to finishing her up.

I did everything per pelican parts diy but Im having trouble with one part. When I put it all back together and I start the car. It whines really really loud like the teeth on the flywheel and starter arent matching up. Could this be a mismounted starter causing this problem? Itll start but itll whine really loud then start itll do it for about 2-3 second then itll turn over.

maybe the starter is in the wrong place. I was at my shop once and there was a 1970 pickup there and every time they started it up it made a very loud screeching sound or a squeek and somebody said that it was probably that the starter was too close to the fly and needed to be shimmed out a bit.

Don't know if that helps at all, I have not personally done any clutch work.

Replaced the starter with a good one and does the same thing. The starter isnt engaging with the flywheel and when it does it then starts...
