    Battery tie-down ??

    '87 325iS
PO bought an Optima battery for the car before selling it to us. Unfortunately, we have know idea what he did with the tie-down for the battery (original or otherwise). Right now, I have a half-assed strap (fabric) made to fit that holds it down , but you can hear it bounce a little when going over bumps. The Optima is smaller than the stock battery plate. Anybody have a suggestion for a tie-down that will work? Anybody have the same setup? And what did you use?

You're in luck. I have a picture, you just have to be creative.

I used 1/8" anodized aluminium for the top and 2"x1/8" angle anodized aluminium.

I used the stock hold down in my M3 and it worked just fine with the red top optima.

There are a ton of different Red Tops. Some dont have the "step" to use conventional tie downs.

Thanks, Aaron. Just that one pic gives me a good idea of what I need to do. Would have been easier if I had the stock tie-down, but this is a great start.

I did something similar to arronsilva with my redtop... take out the battery and the tray thats underneath it... from there you should be able to see better what needs to be done to get it to stay in there...
