    Fuel system problem

I received my VDO fuel pump today, installed it, didn't work. Tested the power to the fuel pump, no power at all. Tested the relay, didn't work. Went to local junkyard and pulled two of the exact relays off of an E36 325i. Put them in, niether seemed to work. Borrowed somebody else definite working relay and tried it out, still no power. The fuse isn't blown. I jumped where the relay plugs into and the fuel pump would hum like it should, but the car would not even sputter. Does anybody have a clue as to what the problem could be? Could my motronic have failed? Any input would be much appreciated.

The relay is triggered by the Motronic only after it sees a crank signal.

So my crank sensor could be bad?

My pulse sensor only had 200ohms when it should have 540 +\- 45 ohms. The bently manual says for accurate readings it should be 77F out, think my multimeter could be that off because its only 38F out?
