    Is this a good price?

I was recently quoted $175 to test an M20 head for leaks and to level it if necessary.

I have no idea how much this should cost. Can you guys weigh in on this?

I'm on the other side of the country, so take this with a grain of salt, but here's how some of my costs broke down (m20 head):

      Pressure test: $45
      Valve job: $240
      Resurface head: $45
Replace 3 eccentrics and all valve guides with machining: $175

      Hope that's helpful.

sounds reasonable. here i pay around $200 for clean, check, seals/valve job, resurface on inline 6. they would install any new parts like valve springs, rocker arms, etc that i bring for no added cost or minimal. just make sure hes not going to charge you a bunch to replace the valve seals and whatever else needs replacing.

$175 for a pressure test is ridiculous. Go to someone else. $50 tops job.

            Good information guys, thanks.

If anybody knows of a place in the NY/NJ/CT area to get this done, feel free to chime in.
