    fuel pump strainer

How do I clean it, mine has little metal shavings. I was thinking magnet but I dont have a strong one and I don't know if it will throwoff the rest of the pump. Also do I really need a new O-ring for the pump to car connection? It is still rubbery and pliable, not sticky like the fuel has gotten to it, I don't want to wait until Monday to put everything back together.

pull the pump out of the tank, clean off/ out the strainer. and replace it.

that easy. hardest part might be turning the pump out of the tank, its screwed in and you have to turn the whole body. its easy though. just tap the tab with a screwdriver and hammer.

Thats the question, how do I clean the strainer without ripping the strainer mesh or pushing all the crap into the pump.
