Removing shift linkage with engine and transmission.

Can I leave the shift linkage on the transmission while pulling the engine and transmission out? Is there enough clearance?
I'd rather not go through all that trouble again removing it while its still under there. :|

Remove the easy stuff like the shift lever and selector rod. The shift carrier is the only thing that can be difficult because of the bitch clip. If you want to leave the shift carrier attached to the transmission when you pull it, it is possible.

It's easy to get to the bitch clip once you have the engine disconnected from everything and the driveshaft off the back of the transmission. Just tilt everything using your hoist, and the clip is easy to get to. Then, just leave it all behind. While everything is pulled, it is a good time to replace all the bushings in the shift linkage.

It you are dropping the motor / trans out the bottom it is easy to leave it on. If you are pulling it all out throught the engine bay, you will want to take it off.
