    Bad gas?

The other day i ran completely out of gas to the point that i started misfiring and then the car died, and my buddy came to my rescue with a gallon of questionable gas that had been in his shed for god knows how long. Now the cars misfiring, dies at idle half the time, and when it does idle its so low that my brakes and steering feel manual. I have no money for any gas what so ever, but is this most likely bad gas or could it be something else angry at me?

Could be bad gas, but if you only added a gallon, it could be fuel starvation. Find some money and dump in 5 gallons of fresh gas. Using 91-93 octane will compensate for the aged gas you put in the tank.

Just put in 20 bucks of premium (92) and its going on and off between running like it was and running fine. But the idle is still a little funny all the time

Turns out its my maf. I unplugged it and the car runs fine without it, it doesnt seem to run lean or rich, at least not noticeably. Is there any reason for me not to run MAFless for a little while? i have one in the mail but need my car until it gets here

Having the engine run better with the AFM disconnected doesn't necessarily mean that the AFM is bad. When the AFM is disconnected the DME reverts to default maps and runs in open loop mode. This causes the engine management system to be very tolerant of other problems, like intake leaks.

Find a shop that can run a smoke test on the intake. That is the only sure way of finding all intake leaks.

Ran a smoke test a couple months back, no leaks anywhere

The thread title just makes ya giggle.

Could the old gas muck up the injectors? I'd do what everyone else said and dilute it with some premium gas. Then maybe throw a can of seafoam in the tank to clean out the fuel system.

haha yeah i put in a few gallons of premium then found out it was my MAF being a bitch again. Can anyone confirm whether or not i can safely drive with the MAF unplugged? it ran fine, if only a little rich when i took it down the block, i just wanna be sure
