Wheel scratching sound....

Hey everyone, I just picked up a 1991 318is yesterday and there is a hissing/ scratching (like metal on metal rubbing lightly) sound coming from the rear left wheel. The sound is periodic every time the wheel makes one rotation. I think it might be the brakes/ ebrake but i'm not certain.

Any ideas?

It could be the brakes, or it could be a bent backing plate. Get the rear up in the air and rotate that wheel to try to find the source of the noise.
