    Driver's Door Lock

I can unlock from the outside, but I cannot lock from the outside. I have to get out of the car, go to the passenger side, and then press the lock down from the passenger side.

I don't really know much about the locking mechanism; however, does anyone think it is just a missing/broken piece?

Also, as fyi, my central locking system does not work. I wouldn't mind just replacing it with a working one and then unlock all doors via trunk, but I think if I can't even lock the driver's door with a regular old key from the outside the central locking will not be able to lock it, either.
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
    Mark: "You never will."

The driver's door doesn't seem to have a mechanical locking mechanism (I think it did, at 45 degrees, but it's worn out for 99% of E30s) just the 90 degree twist central lock activation. You probably just need a new lock sensor, they're like $35.

That's funny, I can't lock from the inside (or I don't know how - if I push the knob down it locks for a second then unlocks). I usually just lock all my doors from the trunk. I can however lock and unlock from the outside.
WTB late model, anywhere on the east coast will go as far west as Texas for the right car at the right price. 5 speed 6cyl only.

That sounds like a malfunction in how the door is shutting. On my old red one it would do that sometimes, but I've forgotten how I could make it do that. It was never on it's own - only when I tripped something up.

A new lock sensor, eh? Where exactly would that hook up? The thing is, the lock used to quasi-lock when I first got the car, but after a while it just ended up giving out completely. I'd be willing to gamble 35 bucks to see if that will solve my lock problem, as I do not mind locking/unlocking each individual door. I am just tired of having to have my pax wait for me to shut my door so they can lock it for me.
