VDO odometer: spun backwards, now kind of crunchy

I have a spare VDO cluster that I want to wind back to reflect the mileage of a cluster I moronically sold, thinking I wouldn't need it.

WELL, I was in the middle of doing the air compressor trick and then something happened to the odometer guts. It now gets stuck once every 10 miles going backwards. It seems going forward is fine, though. To unstick the backwards motion, I have to rock it forward, then back again.

Any ideas? Should I desolder those two pins on the bottom and free everything up?

I would, but my x-ray glasses haven't come in from the Cracker Jack Corporation yet. I hope to finally see naked women / men within 4-6 weeks.

First things first; have you attempted the develocitator reposition with the crank angle flux pin? If that's stuck, you'll need to adjust the Peter Styvesant Classic smoke sensor - this is the factory recall to the Lucas Smoke Detector (TM)

If that doesn't work, you;ll need to light up the entire work area with the Hustler (R) America's Best (Also R) lighter. This usually comes in the form of a BiC lighter, it usually works after a year if you look after it, but you'll often find that it doesn't after your friend takes of the safety catch with an unusually long pair of tweezers.

Failing all that and this is a last resort, you can pour yourself a Gordon's Gin (TM) and Coke (less of a TM) and see what other answers other people have.

I believe the crank angle flux pin is really jammed against something. I don't think I have to resort to lighting up the work table with a Hustler (R) America's Best (Also R) lighter, no, not yet. I am a patient man. I will bide my time and allow the collective brainpower of r3vlimited.com solve my life's problems.

I will die alone and destitute.
