    Getting out windows and Motors.

I know I've posted about this issue before. However, that thread fell into the anals of the forum, and I'm starting a new one.

It seems that BMW switched the type of window motors and regulators in the middle of 1988. My 1988 BMW 325 (the Super Eta) is a VERY early 88 - something like Novemeber 87 or January 88 - not sure. Whereas, my 1988 325is (being parted out) was produced in late 88.

The months of production is irrelvant - fact of the matter is - the window motors are regulators are different.

Why am I pursuing this? The passenger side window motor in my 1988 325 (Super Eta) is bad, and needs a replacement. I have everything here, so why not convert to the newer style window motors and regulators? I also want to transfer the drivers side glass from my parts car to my car - since there's a sticker that DOES not want to come off, and I wanna get my windows tinted.

    Anyway - here's my problem:

How on earth do you remove the newer style windows, window regulators, and window motors? And, at the same time, what's the best way to remove the older style windows, window regulators, and window motors?

From what I can tell - the newer style regulators have no screws, and are just clips.

I'm at a loss here. I'll be hopefully stripping my parts car down this weekend, since I don't have school Friday or Monday. And, I'd like to get all the window components out of the doors.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated!! If you have any ideas on how to get them out - let me know!! Also - if for some reason I didn't make any sense, let me know, and I can explain it better.

    Thank You in advance!

Why do sooo much work? Just replace the bad motor, leave the regulator in.
Heat up the sticker, use a razor blade. Stickers aren't permanent.

i agree hear it up or slide a razor blade gently over it or use WD40 and wipe it off or solvent but solvent might eat somthing or leave a filmy residu which can be removed with window cleaner i believe.

I can't replace just the motor, the motors are different. Otherwise, I would be done by now.

Besdies, I will be taking out the windows and motors from the IS anyway, since I'm parting it.

I just want to know how to get them out, since I haven't the slightest clue.

Anyone have any pointers before I attempt to pull this out this weekend?
