    looking for some info

I'm possibly about to pick up an 88 325iS that has a blown head gasket... I figure I may as well do a full rebuild on the motor, but I can't find a master rebuild kit ANYWHERE... I've looked at pelican parts and some other places and come up short... If you guys know where I can find a kit like some of the ones made by topline or whatever point them out...

I also plan on doing a S50/52 swap in the future, but I can't seem to find any info on that? Are there any shops that sell custom mounts and wiring harness, etc, and whatever general parts I may need for this swap? Also some write-ups on it would be cool too. I did a search in the forums here and didn't find too much on it, maybe I missed some topics, I dunno.. Any help would be appreciated... and uh, yeah I'm new.

dealer for the gasket kit (it's not called a rebuild kit) upper and lower kits for a full job

24v swap is covered with 35 pages of info at the very top of this forum!!

Ah, I thought that topic was only on the M50 swap... As for the gasket kit, I saw that, the master rebuild usually includes all gaskets, pistons, water and fuel pump.

in that case, you need to order everything individually
I'd suggest doing a cheap m50 swap instead of rebuilding the m20, the m50 swap is the same as an s50 swap as they are essentially the same motor in the US. s52/m52 are the same swap, and the mechanics are exactly the same as the m50/s50 swap, there's just additional work with electronics and a few parts

well I have to rebuild the stock motor so it can run period, and a rebuild would be cheaper than a swap wouldn't it?

And just to clarify, the M50 is the later 92-whatever OBDI motor from the 325i, and the S50 is the OBDI M3 motor correct? I'd rather go with the S50 or S52 for the nice 240hp.

Ah, and what parts from the E30 325is and the E30 M3 are interchangable? I figure most of the body and suspension stuff would be, what about the motor? I was thinking if I rebuild the motor I could always swap out some of the stuff from a junked old M3, like the intake manifold, regular bolt on type of stuff?

E30 M3s have inline fours, so no, you can't swap over any motor parts. Suspension- yes. Interior- yup. Drivetrain if you've got a big wad of money burning a hole in your pocket.
