    Hood Won't Open

Were is the emergency hood release? I can't seem to find it, and my hood release cable is rock solid, won't even budge. I think the lock is frozen, and I know it's on the driver side but I can't find the emergency release.

Looking at the front of the car, to the right of the kidneys look through the grill and you will see the release. Its a hole about 1/2" in diameter with a slot for a screwdriver. Get yourself a long flathead, stick in in there, and twist.
My cable broke on my so I just carry a screwdriver around with me now.

man...i have had bad luck with hood latches too. First...my 5-series cable snapped...then my 325i hood lock just stopped catching the hood and keeping it down. I said f it...and just put hood pins in....and got rid of the latch assembly. of course..i have to take the entire hood off..so if you are wierd about having to do that...it's not the best option. I dont' mind though...because i think the hood gets in the way when i'm trying to mess with stuff especially in the center front of my car.

Yeah I saw that hole, was looking for something like a push prong or something to pull. Makes sense though, just need to buy a longer flat head.

            ugh

I had the same deal, my cable broken, I bought a replacement lock and cable+handle at bavauto and replaced it myself, its very easy and gets rid of the frustration of carrying around a screwdriver.. My hood got to the point where it wouldnt even lock and close.
