    trailer hitch for 325 4dr?

    trailer hitch for 325?
after i get my e30 fixed i want to go get a class 1 hitch put on.
not a bumper mounted one but frame mounted so i can tow a trailer with a couch/loveseat etc from savannah to atlanta. uhaul quoted 224.95 for hitch + install. im sure somewhere else has them cheaper. and id prefer a bmw 325 specific one not some universal one thats gonna fall off.
    anyone have an idea?

copied my post from bimmer forums ryan said someones dad on here makes one?
    thanks guys

Do a search for "Da'Lan"- they make hitches for BMW's. Last time I checked, they make the UHaul brand hitches too. They are not super-cheap, but they are well made + fit well.

There are 2 different type hitches for E30's , the aluminum bumper cars and the plastic bumper cars. The aluminum bumper cars have 2 options, the fixed ball mount (the arm that sticks out from the back of the car that holds the trailer ball) or the receiver type (this one you can remove the ball mount so it doesn't stick out all the time).

Pretty sure the fixed mount is alot cheaper than the receiver type. Both of them mount to the car in the same way- they attach to the bottom of the aluminum bumper, then a flat bar goes under the car and bolts to the spare tire well (you have to drill holes in both).

The plastic bumper cars only have the fixed type, it attaches behind the bumper thru the rear panel (again, you have to drill holes).

I have made a couple of receiver type hitches for the big bumper cars- I still have one on my car, I sold another to another E30 driver. We both use them to haul a small "track trailer" that carries 4 wheels + tires, a large plastic storage box with all sorts of tools and spares we take to the track. Let me know, I could make one for you IF your car has big bumpers.

I would not haul much more than a couple of hundred pounds with an E30- Da'Lan should have specifics on their hitches.
