You probably got a boot from a 325e you need the 325i one. They are set up differently with the ICV.

There is a part number split in '88. If you have the old one, the correct part number is cast into it. You must have the right one as the wrong one makes it near impossible to install the ICV valve.

could you put the "i" intake boot on the ETA engine and mount the ICV over on the other side?

Probably, but why? You would need to get some new piping to run from the ICV to the manifold. Seems like a waste of time.

On the "i", the icv is hooked to the throttle body, not the manifold like the "e".

just get a plastic Y spliter and put the vacume hose on that.

there are 2 intake boots for M20 "i" cars, the only difference is the type of ICV. One type has the ports in an "L" shape, the other has them straight thru- so the valve looks like a "T". The pic that the Gangsta posted shows the "L" shape ICV. The boot for the "T" shape ICV has a sort of accordion like port for one of the ICV ports to plug into.

You guys are killing me with this talk of converting to the eta type boot....why not just get the right thing and be done with it??

                  Bret.
