Along with the higher speedo numbers and more RPM to look at, i really just want the oil temperature gauge it has...what is needed to swap the M's gauges to a 325i? or whats a way to get the oil temp out of it and put it in the gas-o-meter place!

use the coding plug from your car in the m3 cluster.
the tachometer will not read correctly anymore. i think it would be if you put the face plate from your cluster in it. redline is still in the same place.. so what i mean is, when i'm going at 7k rpm, the m3 cluster shows 8k. this doesn't bother me much, as redline is still in the same position.
for the speedometer, it seams as though it is accurate. the increments of a normal 325i cluster and m3 cluster are different, but not that dramatically different, so its hard to tell just by sitting inside the car (like the difference of 75 and 78 mph just by sitting in the car).
the gas guage was way off. i believe this is due to a different size gas tank in the m3 as opposed to my 325i. although i am not certain... all i know is it didn't read accurately, and i swapped my gas guage on (as well as the red needle of course).
a small issue is the dummy bulbs. on my setup, a couple of the dummy lights are seperated from the plug. they are bulbs at the end of the wire, that just push into the correct sockets (i think ABS was one of these). all of the other ones go into the plug, and are the push in and turn type. now, the m3 has **only** the push in and turn type. these sockets are different, so i could not put my ABS light into the m3 cluster for example. one possibility is to use your the back from your original cluster. the problem the back from my original cluster was there was no cutout for the oil temperature plug. this can easily be solved by cutting out a hole in the back of it. another possibility (what i did), was use an '87 325i cluster back, which already has the cutout (not sure if all 87's are like this though).
i haven't hooked up the fuel temperature guage yet. i haven't seen what it looks like eithor, but i've heard you can hook it up to the drain plug. i believe on the m3 its in the oil filter housing.

Fuel will be fine for all 12gallon tank cars
Speedo will be fine
Temp will be fine.
Its worth it, I love mine, besides I never use my tach anymore, except to see if I'm near the limiter

Gotcha, the small white thing that actually plugs into the SI board below the tach between the tach and the temp gauge. I'll try it this weekend...2004 SL600 - Current
