I cracked the cluster open and checked solder points and everything looked to be ok there. I saw nothing that i'd consider out of the ordinary. SI lights seem to work which leads me to believe everything is ok there... so...trying to find all options

ok...well an update. I put a meter to the connector, (very nice of bmw to make a 2 piece connector so as to not have to remove wires!). They checked out just fine. I got signal and rising voltage as I revved the motor. Seems it IS in fact the cluster, which means figuring out whats wrong there.
1. SI board is working, at least to light up the lights
2. No solder points LOOKed damaged, but now will have to go back and check continuity
3. Possibly just a bad tach outright...need a new one. BOOO
4. Screw it all wait and get a STACK digital dash. (haha i wish)
