    325e Krankgear Question.(bearings)

    Finally got some time to do some work on the m20. I Drop the E Crankgear in the m20(I) block. and bolted it down. with the pistons out. the question is am i supposed to use 325i or 325 bearings. I used the 325e bearings and after hand tighing the bols (not torqued yet) the crank was very hard to turn without pistons with a vice grip at the end of it. I chked etk and both the E,and i bearing have the same part #'s am jst wonderin is that normal cause mostly have turned enought FWD cranks with a vice grips without pistons?

    if they're snug it shouldn't be that hard to spin what do you consider hand tighning? till they're snug or what cause you may have already over torqued them... did you make sure to put lube in b4 you put the crank in? other then that if the bearings are the same i duno whats goin on.. unless you need a line bore through there because it might not be straight any more... worth getting checked if nothing else works.

      I did lube it with engine oil since i didnt have the correct lubrication stuff. wat do u usally lube them with? am sure its not over tighted. cause i know how hard it was to undo each bolt from both cranks. [/url]

        assembly lube is usualy thicker then normal engine oil so it stays in the bearings but iv done it with both shouldn't make much of a difference, but put the torque wrench on there and see how tight they are and if you can't spin it with a wrench then take it to a machine shop and get them to check the block, its probably a good idea anyways.

          Make sure the bearings are installed in the correct top/bottom position.
