    need some help..

alright so im in the slow process of removing rust and taking care of the car. My plan is full respray and have it done the right way by taking everything out. I had a bad experience with my other car and want somthing that'll be much better. I'll be updating this thread with other questions as they pop up.

but for now has anyone removed the wiring harness completely from the car. Obviously all the interior is gutted and what not, eng out. i have everything from the eng bay disconnected till it joins the fusebox. How does the harness come out of the car? I know there are a few holes in the firewall with gourmets that it'll go through. Hope this question makes sense.

    edit: sorry car's 91 318i, m42

The main ECU harness goes through the fire wall and has a rubber grommet that seals it in place. Just pry one side of the rubber out and push toward the front of the car and it should come out. The ECU connector then fits through the hole!
The difference between porcupines and BMWs is that porcupines have the pricks on the outside!

alright guys. what the recommended thickness for the floor. When taking mine apart today (driver) i noticed it was layered and pretty thick so ic an't just use the metal off the trunk or hood from the parts car.

      thanks

18-20ga sheet metal should be thick enough
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
