Fuel pump wired directly to the battery?

Dealership wired my fuel pump directly to the battery because it was not working when run through the fusebox. What drawbaks are there? Battery Drain?

It makes sense that the fuel pump will not shut off when the car is shut off also, right? Wondering if this is safe enough to use the car until I can get it looked at by a REAL bmw mechanic or shop.

    Thanks.

    The dealer did that? wow.
Are you sure its not shutting off with the key off?
Sounds like bad news to me

I just went to pick the car up... they couldn't get it to start.
Turns out they expect me to open the hood, connect/disconnect the wire running to the fuel pump everytime I want it to run/shut-off.

I told them forget it, and I'm not longer going to be a BMW 318 owner... they have a VW Golf I'm most likely going to take... the dealership was shady to say the least, but once I mentioned small claims lawsuits and that I've already got an attorney on payroll, he was willing to accept the trade idea.

        UGH!

          That sucks man.
The big problem is with the dealership not with the car, get them to fix their mistakes and in the future take the car somewhere else. My .02

            Good plan.
Let them keep the first shady car they sold you
and exchange it for another from the same dealership!
            Below the radar...
