    Bent clutch pedal

Anyone ever have their clutch pedal bend down towards the floor?

all evidence points towards this as the culprit for my clutch pedal sitting 1" lower than my brakes. The sides are bulging at two points along its length.

anyone have ideas on bending it back?

if it were mine, I would get a replacement out of the scrapyard. once its been bent, I would not trust it structurally again. bending it back may work for the time being, but in the long run, replace it, or it will fail at just the wrong time. while not as critical as the brake pedal, I still like the idea of being able to shift when and where I want to.....

If you insist on bending it back, I would remove from car, and try to get it into a vice. this should take the bend out of it, and allow it to go mostly back into its stock shape. Possibly weld a peice of metal to the back to box the structure to prevent further bending would be in order too.

How the hell did someone bend the pedal, was a 500# gorilla driving and try to push the damn thing THROUGH the firewall??

no clue how it bent, probably from someone not pushing the clutch down straight and somehow twisting it, who knows.

I plan on replacing it, is it possible to do this without removing the whole pedal box? can the bolt that holds the 2 pedals in teh box come out with it in the car?

Yes, you can change the clutch pedal w/o removing the pedal box.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Have you made sure that it isn't the pedal but just that maybe your return spring for the clutch is dislodged? That is much more likely.

It connects with a bolt (pin) on the clutch arm and the other side fits in a notch in the clutch bracket. If you disconnect the master cylinder from the clutch, then you can pull the pedal too high and it will cause the return spring to come out of the notch.

nope its the pedal, the master cylinder is at the extent of its travel.
