Solved! Old mechanic for the car had replaced driver side central locking module, but neglected to reinstall the bracket to hold it up so it hung upside down and managed to get water in it. The short on the feedback lines caused the central locking to stop functioning, the constant "on" of the ignition, and a very interestingly melted module and connectors. I little soldering and a new unit and all should be well in the world.
Car functions as if igniton is in the "on" position at all times, even with the ignition tumbler/switch removed entirely from the car. Smell of burning electrical in the car interior especially driverside front of compartment. Cannot find burnt or damaged wiring.
