    E36 325i to 2.8 conversion

I am doing an engine conversion. I've fitted my E36 328i M52 (1997) engine including all wiring and ECU into a 1993 E36 325i shell. The car is failing to start but does turn over. The engine wiring loom has been plugged into the exsisting wiring of the 325i. The fuel pump is running. I believe the injectors and ignition are not functioning. Does anybody have any ideas that could be of help in this situation i.e the 325 car wiring plug has 5 less wires in it than the 2.8 engine wiring loom. The 2.8 engine inc ECU and wiring loom worked perfectly in my 328i coupe (the car they were removed from) and also the 325 coupe ran percfectly but had a HGF on the engine hence using it for the change as everything worked also. Any help or advice would be amazing as we are getting frustrated with getting nothing for our painstaking efforts.

you need a red label dme and you need to ditch the obd2 harness and convert to obd1.....you cant just plug it in.

You need an obd1 wire harness, obd1 sensors, intake etc.....The ews issue wont be there when you switch dme's and harnesses.

Done this and rigged the car passed the EWS, it fired up, loud as no exhaust etc connected. And its lumpy without the sensors everywhere, only had one knocking sensor connected but bypassed the EWS, looking for a breaking 2.8 for the ECU EWS and key, if can't find it looks like it'll have to have a loom installed my myself. I've also found i have the Siemens MS41.0 ECU meaning I have OBD1????? Here's pictures of my M52 2.8 in the 325 shell, plerase note all wires are a bypass circuit and car will be tidied up before going back on road.

            And all together LOL

The car is a real head messer, I thought removing the 2.5 (Head had gone) and fitting my 2.8 would be plug and play...Fail!!! I'm 23 and i can feel myself losing hair over this car!!! Wish me luck and again thanks for above help.
