Hey everyone,
I purchased a '86 325es a few weeks back. There is hardly any rust on the body or undercarriage to be found except for one major problem spot. I noticed it after I ripped the carpet up (and the carpet was wet, btw). There is a hole in the passenger footwell about the size of a baseball (but not perfectly round). After tearing back the black insulation in the engine bay there was more rust to be found. Another small hole further towards the drivers side. It is hard to see just how far the rust extends but it needs to be dealt with.
So there are two ways to get to it...rip out the dash/etc or remove the engine. Correct? Which would you all do?
I've thought about replacing the dash if I must remove it to do this repair since it is severely cracked.
Thanks,
Will
