    m20 no start? no shit.

So i drove 5mins to my buddies house today and go inside for 10 min, I then leave and my car wont start.

turns over and over and over but doesnt fire up.

here is the diagonsis and see if you all concur.

Plugs are dry, so no fuel to the cylinders.

We over rode the fuel pump relay with a jumper wire, and no sound.

there is fuel in the line going to the fuel rail holding the injectors.

Come to the conclusion that due to no sound of the pump during the override procedure ( when system is pressurized pump shuts off, we over rode this feature to get any sound out of the pump and didnt ) we are going to need a new pump.

    anybody chime in here?
    it NEVER ends.

I never heard any mention of actually testing for voltage?

If you have no voltage coming into the relay, check your main relay. It powers the DME and the fuel pump...and is a fairly common "no go" issue

keep it simple. Was the car boggin or anything prior to this? It sounds odd that the pump would just go kaput. Even weirder it happened when it wasn't running.

That, BTW, does not sound so much like a main relay.

Your DME gets a signal from the CPS that makes it decide to fire up the fuel pump. No crank, no signal, no fuel, right? However, if there is no voltage at the fuel pump relay, it may not be getting through the main relay, which runs most all critical systems in the car, and is known to corrode or wear out internally...or (the one that screws with everyone) rub just fine for 15 minutes and then shut down, or sputter horribly...then soon as it cools, the car fires right back up.

            or doesn't!

This coupled with the crank, but no start you said earlier... leads me to believe timing belt. That is exactly what happened to mine when it went. Pull the valve cover and give it a check.

did the timing belt in november...

it is not getting fuel. i took everything off and listened with the cover off for the sound of the fuel pump and no dice, so i jumper wired the relay to run the pump full time and it didnt run until i hit it with a hammer. then it ran, started and died again. hit it again, it ran, it started then died. gonna drop in a new intank pump and see how that goes... now just waiting the 2 days to get it is the torture. what else can i fix?
