    Leak in Connector on A/C Compressor

    Yo!

    1988 325is

    I was recharging my a/c with some Autozone nonsense, and the green stopleak was coming out of the connecter that's between the compressor and the hose with the blue cap (I have R134 btw).

    Is there any chance that there's a gasket there that's just failed? Compressor works great and stuff, just wanted to know if I could take it to a shop and have them depressurize the system so I/they can get at the gasket.

    There are -o-rings which are between the various connections throughout the system. What typically happens is they get old and shrink causing leaking. What we don't often take into consideration is if the car is old and coolant is lost over the years; people think they can charge to max or even overcharge the system putting a strain on these already weak o-rings. So you spring a leak or leaks depending on condition. The surest way to fix it is replace the o-ring gasket or gaskets. Keep in mind once you do one it will hold but u chance another leak somewhere else. :-)
    if it calls for max 45lbs put in 40 or slightly below better to keep it slightly under pressure and have it work then having to replace your entire a/c.
    Also when you replace it check the a/c hose for wear/corrosion and where it connects. You don't want to put a shitty hose back on either.
