Changed out driver's lock & window guide

    So,
my e30Cab's driver's side door lock was in the terminal 3'oclock position and I had been having to lock/unlock it from the passenger side so I ordered a new coded lock cylinder and key from the dealership...
Bentley says that you need to remove the outside door handle,
    Brad says that you don't,
just roll the window all the way up and with a flashlight you can work around it...
    Total time: 30 mins

The window channel was also broken loose from the standoff that bolt's to the inside of the door which sounded like total shit when you shut the door plus it rattled over bumps...

You have to remove the window on this one to get the guide/channel in as well as remove both the outside and inside trim/mouldings.
You also have to loosen the regulator from all it's attachments to re-attach the window to the scissor arms,
    word of advice...
have a buddy to help you,
just too much shit to hold onto and get lined back up and plus you don't want to drop the window in the door.......
I put a big rolled up beach towel in the bottom of the door to help protect it if I dropped it, it save my butt....
Total time: 2 hrs and alot of cursing,
could do it again in 1 hour I think....

I would say if you want lots of room. I pulled mine out by removing the panel and taking a vicegrip to my door heater element and pulling on it. That released the hold down for the cylinder. Disconnected it and was out in about 15min. Rebuilt the cylinder - little trickier getting the surround back on to hold the cylinder in place. Max 1hour.
I'm dealing with that same thing -all the window stuff- because my lock assembly is messed and need to change it. EVERYTHING has to be out of the way...I know what you felt doing the job..lol.
