Turn Signal Switch Old vs New

Hi,

I have a turn signal switch from a 6 button OBC that I want to use on my E30 which has the 12 button OBC. Both are air bag cars. Other than the turn signal not operating the OBC will everything else work (like the connectors)? The shaft is broken on the original turn signal so I am just looking for a temporary fix until I can find the correct turn signal switch at the junk yard.
