    Door sill removal

Is there an easy way to take off the plastic door sill piece that covers the interior weatherstripping? Mine can kind of slide but I dont want to force it off and break any clips that might be under it. I have a 318is (2 door), thanks in advance.

Grab one end and pull it off. Some clips may break, but that's how they come out. They're only $0.75 each.

slide it forward until it's free from the back clip. then slide it backwards over the top clipuntil it's free from the front clip, then slide forward till it's free from the second to back clip etc etc. This worked great for me. Still takes a bit of fidgeting though. Having the back seat out makes it alot easier too.

I removed both of mine recently, with both front seats out. I managed to get both of them off only breaking one clip in the process. I just pulled the inside lip straight up rather smartly, and it came right off. All the clips remained, and then I used a flathead screwdriver and a pair of electrical pliers (crimpers, wire cutters, etc.) and slid them under the top rim of the clip and pulled up while prying with the pliers. I had to go slow and work them side to side, but it was effective. It can be done, just be patient. Of course, the clips gotta be cheap and you could order them ahead of time and skip all the drama. :D

Those things were a royal bitch to get off. I actually ended up breaking the door sill all together on my parts car.

I finally figured out that the best way to get it off is to pry it off with a screw driver - just gotta know where each of the clips are. ;)

Use 2 flathead screwdrivers. One on each side of a clip and do one clip at a time. :)
