    Glass sunroof part 2.........

    Guys,

I just picked up a '91 318is as a potential daily driver to replace the one I just sold- and to keep the '87 325is track car off the road. One reason I bought this car was because it had a glass sunroof- only the 2nd one I've seen in person in as long as I can remember. I figured I could even take the glass 'roof out of this car and sell it to make the car that much cheaper to me (I've got a steel panel that could replace it).

Now, here's the thing- this glass sunroof appears to NOT be the same as the other one I had (from a '90 325i parts car- it was definitely OEM BMW). This 'roof has a thinner metal frame around the glass, and it has a plastic trim ring around the hole in the roof panel - the OEM 'roof does not have any trim here. The inner trim panel is different as well. The electric button is different as well- this one has 4 buttons in the rectangular switch housing, I think they are labelled "open, close, vent" and the last one says "ASC" which I assume refers to American Sunroof Corp- who likely made this roof assembly.

Any of you guys have one of these?? or seen one??

    Bret.

I've got an ASC roof in the 318...nice little system.

Only thing i'm not crazy about is the material on the shade, which is a slightly different shade/material then then OE headliner.
